There will be No Sequel to Kid Icarus: Uprising

Masahiro Sakuri, the creator of Kid Icarus: Uprising and the Super Smash Brothers series of games has announced that he won’t continue the Kid Icarus series after Uprising. Here’s the quote:

“…because we pushed a lot into the game in order to let people have this short yet deep experience, but the novelty of that would likely grow thin in the next game. For now, my thought is that perhaps we’ll see someone else besides me make another Kid Icarus in another 25 years.”

This is sad news, but understandable for anyone who’s played the game. The story of the game was amazing, but it exhausted every plot twist and story element it could use, and adding anything more might feel like it’s being stretched. For now, it seems the series is done. Hopefully in the future (and hopefully in less than 25 years) the series will return,  and I certainly look forward to that day.
